Over the years many people have asked me “Why campus ministry?” I never could articulate a simple answer. Recently I found a folder in my desk from when I first began as campus pastor. In it I discovered Core Beliefs About Student Ministry. I think it is something I picked up from another ELCA campus ministry site. I instantly identified with what it was saying, it was one of the many “ah ha” moments that God has presented me with while in campus ministry.
These Core Beliefs help me to keep focused on the “why” of Campus Lutheran’s ministry and mission.
If any of these belief statements resonate with you, I would invite you to consider making a financial gift to Campus Lutheran so that this dynamic and vital ministry can continue.
Core Beliefs About Student Ministry
We believe college and graduate students are a unique population in the Lutheran Church who are often under served and whose gifts are underutilized.
We believe faith and a church community can and should play a crucial role in the transition between youth and adulthood.
We believe gathering students into their own Christian community and addressing the unique challenges of their campus life and social networks makes a positive impact on their lives, and promises connection and commitment to the Lutheran church over their lifetime.
We believe continuing to offer and support a ministry makes it easy and as rewarding as possible for students to make the commitment to be a Lutheran Christian at UNK.
We believe an investment in Campus Lutheran is also an investment in the future of the Lutheran church and it’s ministry in the world.
